GETTING STARTED

(This applies to an initial test of the Sinfonia® system using headphones. For a more detailed version of these instructions including diagrams and information on connecting to your sound system, please see the Quick Start section of the documentation.)

When you receive your Sinfonia® system, you should find the following items inside the box:

  • 1 laptop computer with power brick
  • 1 midi controller keyboard
  • 1 audio interface
  • cables - 1 firewire, 1 usb
  • 1 usb keypad
  • the Sinfonia® score for your show
  • various documentation and shipping return materials
  • A usb memory stick for backups (this is yours to keep)

To set up the system, do the following:

  1. Connect the square, magnetic end of the power cord into the left back corner of the computer. Plug the other side into a clean dedicated power source. (This power source should not be shared with any other device).
  2. Connect the MIDI keyboard to the computer with the USB cable. The flatter connection of the cable connects to either USB port on the left side of the computer. The other side of the cable connects to the back of the MIDI keyboard.
  3. Connect the USB number pad to the other USB port on the left side of the computer.
  4. Connect the audio interface to the computer with the firewire cable
  5. Plug in headphones with a 1/4" jack to Headphone Jack 1 on the front of the device

At this point, you are ready to power on your Sinfonia® system! Before you turn on the computer, make sure that the audio interface power button is pressed into the "on" position. You can now turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the top right corner of the laptop's keyboard. You should see lights on the audio interface flash. After a minute or two, the computer will land on a log-in screen. Click the icon next to "RMS". Sinfonia will now launch.

Test playback by pressing the "PLAY" key on the MIDI keyboard! You should now hear the orchestration for the first song of your show begin to play.

Once you have confirmed that the Sinfonia® system is working properly, you should spend some time with the documentation and get to know Sinfonia® frontwards and backwards!
